Chapter Philanthropy & Service
In addition to national partners, collegiate chapters also support local causes through philanthropic fundraising and hands-on service on their campuses and in their local communities.
The local philanthropy that we support is RAINN: The Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network. RAINN provides support and resources for victims of sexual assault which is a cause that we all hold close to our hearts. This is the mission statement from the RAINN website:
"RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network) is the nation's largest anti-sexual violence organization and was named one of "America's 100 Best Charities" by Worth magazine. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org) in partnership with more than 1,100 local sexual assault service providers across the country and operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the Department of Defense. In 2015, the Online Hotline expanded to offer services in Spanish at rainn.org/es. RAINN also carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help victims and ensure that rapists are brought to justice."
Each April, we hold a 36 hour Swing-a-Thon in which we swing on a porch swing, rain or shine, to help raise funds and awareness. We also sell paper rain drops and wristbands around campus in the weeks leading up to the event. Follow the tag #LetHopeRAINNΑΣΤ on Instagram to see us in action.
This year we raised $5987.22 with a corporate donor matching our funds. Together, we gave a total of $11,974.44 to RAINN.

In our community, we regularly volunteer at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore, a thrift store operated by HFH. The money that is raised at the ReStore is used to build homes for families in need. In addition, we also volunteer our time at local HFH builds and other places in the community like university programs, soup kitchens, blood drives, and the Boys and Girls Club of Fitchburg and Leominster.
